The Gifted & Talented Children's Association of WA (Inc)

About GATCA

GATCA was established in 1978. Incorporated in Western Australia, the organisation serves gifted and talented children, their parents and their teachers. Membership is open to all who wish to ensure that children of high ability are supported socially, emotionally and intellectually - at home and at school. We look forward to providing support to anyone who requests it.

Typically, the Association is made up of a group of committed volunteers - parents, teachers, academics and other professionals working in the field of education. The committee of volunteers coordinates a range of services and subcommittees.

These services include:

  • Ongoing advocacy at all levels
  • Information about giftedness and gifted children
  • Social events and educational activities throughout the year - for children
  • Seminars and workshops focussed on the needs of parents
  • Seminars and workshops focussed on the needs of teachers and schools
  • Visiting experts and guest speakers - for parents and teachers
  • A library - available to members at no charge
  • The Association's newsletter - The Grapevine
  • The Association's website
  • Information regarding professional services
  • Information about conferences (local, national and international)
  • Online discussion forums for both teachers and parents
  • Discount rates for Mathletics & Spellodrome software
  • GATCA continues to grow, and as we grow, we find an increasing ability to make a difference. New members bring with them a variety of expertise as well as enthusiasm. This strengthens our ability to act as an advocacy group and to make a strong and positive contribution to the social, emotional and intellectual development of our children. We stand ready to help you, any time you need that help. Just call or email us. In turn, you can help us by joining the association, and by telling others about GATCA. If you know someone who wants or needs help, please direct them to us.
